To prepare for the start up of Dumaguete City Septage Treatment facility, the Technical Working Group met with PSA’s Jay Tecson and Nene Narvaez to talk about details of the operations and maintenance of the treatment facility and the desludging trucks. The TWG, representing members from the city departments and Dumaguete City Water District, presented the proposed operation and maintenance procedures for the facility and trucks and this was reviewed and commented on by the participants. At the end of the meeting, the TWG decided to send out notices to the public on the planned operation of the facility and start of the collection of septage fees in March. A training program for the desludging personnel and facility operators will be conducted during the second week of February. The LGU will also conduct barangay meetings beginning in March. A City Septage Management Authority (CSMA) meeting will be convened during the third week of February to talk about policies governing the operation and financing and auditing procedures of the program. Seeding of the lagoons will be done in February while actual load-testing will be done in early March. A planned high-profile inauguration is being planned for the last week of February.
