Dumaguete - Dumaguete was one of the four cities involved in the USAID Local Initiatives for Affordable Wastewater Treatment (LINAW) project, which ran for two years from 2003-2005. Dumaguete City's first priority was to build a wastewater treatment facility for their public market. Upon completion, their next priority was to develop a city-wide system to desludge septic tanks and build a treatment facility for the sludge (which is required by the Clean Water Act).
Iloilo - Through training and technical assistance, LINAW consultants helped Iloilo in constructing low-cost wastewater treatment facilities for a new public slaughterhouse, two hospitals and a commercial complex.
Malaybalay - Maylaybalay City was one of the 6 cities participating in the Local Initiatives for Affordable Wastewater Treatment (LINAW) Project from October 2005 to September 2007. A consultation and planning workshop was held on March 29, 2006 and resulted in the development of an action plan and formation of a technical working group. The technical working group developed an information campaign plan and several information materials, including a radio plug, poster and an ad that was placed as wallpaper on computers in the city’s Internet cafes.
